NBA changed partners to provide new basketball balls after nearly 40 years

After nearly 4 decades of cooperation with Spalding, NBA decided to change when signing a contract with Wilson.

Accordingly, from the 2021 – 2022 season, Wilson will replace Spalding to become a provider of soccer balls for the NBA. Wilson was the NBA’s distribution brand for the first season.

It was from 1946 to 1947 to 1982 to 1983 before being replaced by Spalding. Spalding failed to reach an agreement to extend the contract with the NBA after the 2020-2021 season. Finally, Wilson was the winning partner.

NBA players used Wilson’s balls in the early days of the tournament

Currently, Wilson is also the provider of the ball for college basketball, G-League and African Championship basketball. In recent years, Wilson has grown in tennis, but in fact, the company’s basketball equipment business has been very invested.

The NBA requires Wilson to keep the original eight pieces of leather and materials used for the ball. However, the players will be involved in the product development process.

The first Intercollegiate basketball game was held in 1895
